Overview

Oklahoma City's Adventure District is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization, classified as a business league. It operates as a collaborative effort among local businesses and attractions to promote the area as a vibrant entertainment and tourist destination.

Location and Attractions

The Adventure District is located in northeast Oklahoma City, roughly centered on NE 50th Street and Martin Luther King Avenue. It is strategically positioned at the crossroads of major highways I-35 and I-44, making it easily accessible to visitors. This district is home to some of Oklahoma City's most notable attractions, including:

  • 45th Infantry Division Museum
  • Oklahoma City Zoological Park (OKC Zoo)
  • Science Museum Oklahoma

History

The concept of the Adventure District was initiated in 2000 as a marketing effort by local businesses to promote the area collectively. By 2003, it was officially recognized by the City of Oklahoma City as an entertainment district.

The organization aims to enhance community engagement and increase visitor experience by fostering connections among existing attractions and services. It focuses on promoting the district as a comprehensive vacation getaway for all family members, attracting over 3.3 million visitors annually.
