Our Junior Sailors are awesome! Undeterred by the rain this past Saturday 14 Junior Sailors from LLSC participated in the Cinco de Mayo at Atlanta Yacht Club. This year the Cinco de Mayo is a SAYRA qualifying event. We had 11 sailors in Optis, 3 sailors in O'Pen Skiffs, and 1 sailor on a Laser. Opti sailors included Charlotte Kennedy, Anna Kennedy, Callaway Terrell, Warren Terrell, Cohen Burwell, Maggie Kennedy, Sophie Shih, Helen Terrell, Alexis Shih, Patrick Shinn, and Marin Spiller. Top honors for the Overall Championship Fleet went to Anna Kennedy who was 1st place and Calloway Terrell who was 3rd place. Anna Kennedy was 1st place, and Warren Terrell were 3rd place in Red Fleet. Callaway Terrel was 1st place, Cohen Burwell 2nd place, and Alexis Shih 3rd place in Blue Fleet. In White Fleet LLSC Junior Sailors took all three top honors with Maggie Kennedy 1st, Helen Terrell 2nd, and Marin Spiller 3rd. Charlotte Kennedy was third in Green Fleet. O’Pen Skiffs included Cohen Trocolli (1st overall and 1st in the Open Fleet) and Elizabeth Barber (2nd overall and 1st in U13 Fleet). Rounding out the U13 fleet for LLSC was Geneieve Barber who placed 3rd. Unrelated to this regatta, but worth noting, Cohen Trocolli and Elizabeth Barber qualified for the O'Pen Skiff Worlds to be held in Japan in July. Both families are making plans to go. Andrew Spiller, our lone Laser sailor, was third in Laser 4.7.
