Dog Auction #164 mama's ears. (Yes, there is such a thing as DOG AUCTIONS in Missouri. Large puppy mills and small dog breeders sell off their unwanted dogs there. Dog auctions occur typically 2 times per month in Missouri, at 2 different auction houses.) These are hard formations/tumors from the flies constantly eating away the tissue and the body trying to build over the damaged areas. All of this will have to be removed to insure they don't break open or become irritated from scratching, rubbing, etc. These formations are hard on top, but soft underneath. They are fully and securely part of her ear flap now. They are not movable or scabs. For now, they will finish healing (the open/bloody areas), and then Dr. Brad will attack them as to try to clean up the mess and make them as safe for her as possible. They clearly cause her discomfort, as I found today while trying to clean INSIDE the ears (which are fully infected and full of ear mites, of course!) This girl, and her full sister, are in the worst shape of all 7. I will show you her sister's issues later. She has some growths that even have Dr. Brad stumped as to what they are! The fly eaten ears of our youngest auction male, a 3 yr old previously known as #168 aka Kashus. I will not allow this name to be his any longer. He will receive a freedom name! Can you imagine how long it takes for this to happen? I've personally owned boxers for almost 40 years and I've NEVER had such a thing happen! Simply outrageous that this is even occurs.......and that anyone, with even a sliver of a heart, would ALLOW it to happen! SHAME on these POS breeders and the pains they allow the dogs in their care to be tormented with! This boy is also fighting bloody stools and we are working on getting that fixed up too. Along with being clearly underweight (ribs, hips and backbone showing) this sweet man is now eating up to 7 cups of food a day, and leaving his bowl empty after every feeding. The task of rehabbing these puppy mill survivors is no easy task. From the mental damages of living in cages with little to no human contact for years and years, to the medical conditions they are afflicted with, it's not for the weak of heart. It a daily test of my ability to control anger, sorrow and frustrations. And this last set of 7 certainly have my heart in a knot. It amazes me how human beings can be so desperately different. While I spend every damn day of my life volunteering my time trying to help and heal these sweet dogs, there are people out there that think absolutely nothing of abusing and neglecting them for the sheer reason of monetary profit. I can only pray there is truly a Judgement Day. Because if we can't stop it in this lifetime, I hope there is a forever after that will pass judgement on these abusers of our beloved breed. (fb)
