Crittenden County Hospital

Crittenden County Hospital, now known as Crittenden Community Hospital, is a nonprofit health care provider located in Crittenden County, Kentucky. It was founded in 1943 through a $10,000 donation, with additional funds raised to establish the hospital, which opened in July 1944[1].

History and Development

The hospital began as a converted residence and initially had four doctors, two registered nurses, a part-time lab technician, and eight nurse's aides. Over the years, it has expanded to include various services such as emergency medical services, clinics, and a surgery center. By 1977, the hospital assumed operations of the Crittenden County Emergency Medical Service. It also acquired several local health facilities, including Marion Home Health Agency and Crittenden County Convalescent Center, though it later focused more on acute care services[1].

In 1994, the hospital corporation changed its name to Crittenden Health Systems to reflect its broader offerings. In 2018, the organization shifted its operations and was rebranded as Crittenden Community Hospital[1].

Crittenden County Hospital is a tax-exempt organization, classified as a 501(c)(3) for purposes related to health care. Donations to the organization are tax-deductible[2].
