Overview

The University Center of Greenville Inc. is a nonprofit educational consortium based in Greenville, South Carolina. Established in 1987, it aims to enhance access to higher education for the citizens and economic community of the Upstate region by offering a range of academic programs.

History

Initially chartered as the Greenville Higher Education Center by the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education, the organization began operations on the Greenville Technical College campus. Over time, it expanded to include more partner institutions and relocated several times to accommodate growing enrollment. In 2001, the center renovated a significant portion of the former McAlister Square shopping mall to increase its educational space.

Mission

The mission of the University Center of Greenville is to advance access to higher education degrees, benefiting both the citizens and the economic community of Greater Greenville. This includes assessing regional educational needs, engaging universities in responsive programming, implementing marketing initiatives, and providing essential resources for academic delivery.

Partner Institutions

The University Center of Greenville collaborates with nine top-ranked universities in South Carolina: Anderson University, Bob Jones University, Clemson University, Converse University, Furman University, Lander University, South Carolina State University, the University of South Carolina, and the University of South Carolina Upstate. These institutions offer more than seventy academic programs, including bachelor's completion, master's, and doctoral degrees.

The center's programs focus on areas like business, education, healthcare, human services, and religious studies, reflecting the workforce needs of the Upstate region. Programs are delivered in flexible formats, including traditional, hybrid, and online classes, to cater to the diverse needs of adult learners.

The center offers state-of-the-art facilities, including smart classrooms equipped with high-definition displays and sound systems, to enhance the learning experience. Additional resources include wireless access and on-site technical support to ensure seamless academic operations.
