After a new application process, we are thrilled to announce that Kara Martin has been chosen to step into the role of Queen of the Snows Candidate Coordinator! Kara’s Winter Carnival journey started in 2016 when she was a Queen of the Snows candidate. Although she was not selected that year, she had a great candidate experience and remained in contact with the 20 other candidates. The following year, she attended Royal Coronation to cheer on the ladies who were selected in 2017 in their outgoing coronation and realized that she was still interested in the Winter Carnival and wanted the opportunity to represent the Coolest Celebration on Earth! She became a candidate again and was selected as the 2019 West Wind Princess. Her love of the Winter Carnival has grown ever since and she has remained active in many ways! In 2021, she began leading the Junior Royalty program and has been serving as one of the coordinators ever since. She has been a member of the Past Princess Association, serving on the parade costume committee this year. She also became active with the West Winds and served as the Trail Boss in 2022. Outside of Winter Carnival, Kara has been an active volunteer with her youth group, Job’s Daughters, serving on a local council and statewide committees over the past 15 years. She volunteers with her sorority, Phi Mu Fraternity, as a national committee member, as President of the alumnae chapter association, and as a chapter adviser at UW-River Falls. She is also currently serving on the UWRF alumni association board. Professionally, Kara works as a high school counselor. In her free time, she enjoys sewing, photography, Disney, Pineda Tacos, and spending time with her husband, Kelly and their two dogs Lady Clementine and Princess Peach. Kara understands the journey of candidacy, both when she received a crown and when she did not. We are excited for her to share the journey with many new candidates as we grow the program together. Join us in celebrating Kara and the enthusiasm she brings to this position. Let’s rally to support her as she embarks on this exciting journey! And as we embrace this new chapter, we want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to all past coordinators for their incredible contributions. TONIGHT at 5:30pm at Landmark Center! The Ambassadors Annual Meeting is being held TONIGHT in room 317 at the Landmark Center. Their presentation will begin at 6pm sharp. Come find out all the AMAZING things they have accomplished this year! Dinner will be served from 5:30 - 6:30pm. They will have a taco bar provided by Aesop's Table. This DELICIOUS meal is free for members. Non-members may attend for a cost of $15 per person. They will also have non-alcoholic beverages available and dessert!
