National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors

The Association was originally incorporated in 1971 to serve State Drug Agency Directors, and then in 1978 the membership was expanded to include State Alcoholism Agency Directors. Among those Federal agencies with which NASADAD has worked are the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and its centers on substance abuse treatment and prevention (CSAT and CSAP), the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA); the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA); the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA); the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA); the Food and Drug Administration (FDA); the U.S. Department of Education (ED); the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ); the Social Security Administration (SSA), the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT); the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP); other executive branch agencies; the Congress; National Associations; and individuals in their dealings with the States.
