Ducks Unlimited, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation of wetlands and waterfowl. Established in 1937 during the Dust Bowl, it has grown into the world's largest and most effective private waterfowl and wetlands conservation organization.

History

The founders of Ducks Unlimited convened on the banks of New York's Beaverkill River to address the plummeting waterfowl populations in North America. At that time, the continent was facing severe drought and habitat loss, which threatened waterfowl populations. This meeting laid the groundwork for an international organization that would tackle these challenges across North America.

Ducks Unlimited was formally incorporated on January 29, 1937. The organization quickly expanded, focusing on creating and restoring habitats essential for waterfowl breeding, migration, and wintering. By the late 1930s, Ducks Unlimited had established a presence in Canada, with an inaugural meeting in Winnipeg in 1938.
