Official Page of the Rush County Government Provided by Rush County Economic Development •To maintain and operate a museum which displays to the public old barbed wire and related fencing tools. •To observe and commemorate the history of barbed wire and its importance in the development of the United States. •To educate children on the historical connection between the “Louisiana Purchase” and the “homestead laws”, both of which were actually made successful with the use of barbed wire. •To make the public aware of the hardships the settlers of the Midwest experienced when the Great Plains were settled. •To do things necessary and proper for the accomplishments of the objects herein set out and those objects which may later be recognized as proper and lawful.
