DO NOT RELEASE BALLOONS… We just found a balloon in our horse field and it is not the first time. Luckily we got to it before the animals did. Helium balloons can travel long distances and do great harm and cause deaths when they finally land. Balloons, especially those made of Mylar, can become entangled in power lines, causing outages and fires, in the ocean they are mistaken for food and swallowed by marine life, wildlife get tangled in the strings, and they scare animals which can result in injuries. There are alternatives but if you must celebrate with balloons never release them and always dispose of them correctly. (fb)
