West Village Chorale Inc
Voices in the Village since 1971. A volunteer group passionate about sharing new and classic choral music, and also snacks. We're a 60-voice choral ensemble that has shared our voices and our hearts with NYC since 1971! The West Village Chorale is a 60-voice avocational ensemble based out of Judson Memorial Church, at the south end of New York City's Washington Square Park. Our members are talented avocational singers with varied professional backgrounds (attorneys to Zumba instructors) but one shared goal: to make beautiful music. Our members give voice, leadership and passion to the Chorale. The Chorale is committed to bringing to life a diverse repertoire, ranging from beloved choral classics of the choral canon to contemporary pieces and premieres/commissions, including the work of traditionally underrepresented voices. We bring our love of choral music to our neighborhood, our city, and beyond!

Thompsons work adapts the traditional setting the Seven Last Words from the Cross to explore the tragedy and complex emotions of the final words of Trayvon Martin Michael Brown Eric Garner and four other Black men whose untimely death came at the hands of those sworn to protect and serve.
