Hero Alert 🔔 While spending time with his family at Gloucester Point, Batten School & VIMS faculty member Donglai Gong sprang into action after seeing someone in distress in the York River. With help from a volunteer with Abingdon Volunteer Fire and Rescue Inc. , Donglai launched a VIMS vessel and rescued two individuals swept upriver by a strong tidal current, an adult victim and a Good Samaritan who had jumped in to help her.
