The Eastern Nebraska Professional Section meets monthly throughout the year in addition to publishing a quarterly newsletter. Meeting topics include professional development, work-life balance, networking, and technical presentations, as well as social gatherings and volunteering. The Section sponsors one or two Girl Scout events each year, introducing them to the different engineering fields. At each event, these girls, ages 9-15, perform hands-on activities such as making a polymer, building a bridge, building circuits, and many other exciting activities. In 2007, the Section launched the first WOW! That’s Engineering event. WOW! That’s Engineering! creates an experience for middle school girls where they have the opportunity to meet female engineers and technical professionals.
