April 14th will be 3 years since Brian Jeansonne’s ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) diagnosis. The past 3 years have been a complete whirlwind. Things progressed much quicker than expected. Thankfully things are at a place where they’ve settled down. Moving forward, the Jeansonne family is working on living life to the fullest. That is why on April 14th we are asking our communities to join together to raise funds for Brian’s care and other out of pocket expenses. As the disease progressed Brian’s needs became greater. Until his tracheostomy in October 2022 his wife Kristy and their five children handled everything. At that point Brian needed round the clock care. To help the family, part time Caregivers were hired. This is an out-of-pocket expense not covered by insurance. Caregivers are necessary for Brian’s quality of life and for his family’s as well. Statistics show that it costs $150,000 (out of pocket) a year to keep an ALS patient healthy and thriving. The Jeansonne Family has estimated their cost to be around $110,000 a year for Brian’s care and out of pocket medical expenses. People have been very generous since April 14, 2020 and many have given to the family in multiple ways. Now is the time to pull together and help relieve the burden for this family. I am personally reaching out to you because this family is a part of my community. I am helping them by reaching out to my community and personally asking you to join us. Our goal is that on April 14, together, we can raise a large portion of the annual expense. Our goal is to raise $80,000. This is where YOU come in.
