Dyslexia is a lifelong learning disorder that primarily affects reading and spelling, with additional challenges in writing and math skills. It is one of the most common specific learning disabilities, impacting about 5-18% of children. Most children and adults with dyslexia can learn to read—but with more effort than their peers. The typical child can learn to read “fluently,” meaning that reading is automatic, fast and pleasurable. By contrast, many dyslexic children remain “manual” readers who read slowly and with great effort. When dyslexic children experience success in reading, even with support, they are more likely to become motivated and confident readers. Reading opens doors to a world of knowledge, stories, and ideas, allowing children to explore their imaginations and expand their horizons. Knowledge is power and fostering a love for reading in all children plays a significant role in their self-esteem! #ameliaislandbookfestival #ameliaisland #fernandinabeach #enrichingliveswithliteracy #makingadifferencetogether #nonprofitorganization #nassaucountyfl #booknonprofit #bookstagram #nonprofit #literacy #students #booklove #readersofig #authorsofinstagram #authors #authorscommunity #authorsofig #jacksonvilleflorida #jax #stmarysga #kingslandga #georgia #buychamber (fb)
