Amka Afrika School Foundation
The mission of Amka Afrika School Foundation is to involve the students and teachers of Amka School in an outstanding educational experience. Our goal is to prepare students for success on government exams, in secondary school, in careers and as responsible citizens. Operating with sensitivity to the cultural differences between Americans and Tanzanians, the foundation provides support for:Learning: Tuition grants for students, teacher training, curriculum development, classroom materials such as textbooks, supplies and furnishingsCapital improvements: 2011-2012 water tank, toilets, plastering classrooms; 2013 electricity, running water, additional classrooms, school bus; 2014 painting, dormitory, multi-purpose/dining hall, kitchen expansion, chicken coop, vegetable gardenVolunteers: Mission programs bring volunteers who model using proper English, support teachers as they learn modern teaching techniques, and work on the many projects going on at the school site.
