For our second weekend of our Nothing Left to Lose summer festival, we present: WE’RE GONNA DIE written by Young Jean Lee starring Sammy Rat Rios as Singer Thursday June 26th & Friday June 27th at 7:30pm In We’re Gonna Die by Young Jean Lee, Sammy Rat Rios delivers a raw, heartfelt performance blending storytelling and music to remind us that suffering is universal—and survivable. This intimate, uplifting show invites audiences to face life’s struggles with honesty, humor, and song. WE’RE GONNA DIE was originally produced by Caleb Hammons for Playwrights Inc., in association with Young Jean Lee’s Theater Company. WE’RE GONNA DIE premiered in April 2011 at Joe’s Pub in New York, NY. WE’RE GONNA DIE was developed in part through a residency at the National Theatre Institute at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre Center. #shakingthetreetheatre #pdxtheatre #portlandtheatre #youngjeanlee #weregonnadie (fb)

Next up in our festival lineup is: 21 New Messages by Stefan Feuerherdt & Up the Hill by Val Landrum on Saturday, June 21st at 7:30pm ✨ In Stefan Feuerherdt’s immersive play, 21 New Messages, directed by Chris Harder and featuring Val Landrum, audience members become part of the narrative by reading aloud messages that unravel a poignant mother-daughter relationship. In Up the Hill, Val Landrum weaves a haunting and tender tale of memory, loss, and the afterlife, as Emily—long dead—must guide her forgetful husband George through the remnants of their shared past before time runs out. Inspired by Our Town, this poetic new work explores what lingers after death and what it means to truly remember. Notice a theme yet? (fb)
