Historic Eleutherian College was founded in 1848 by the Neill's Creek Anti-Slavery Society to educate all, regardless of race or gender. Our mission is to continue that purpose by telling their stories. TO RESTORE AND OPERATE A CIVIL WAR HISTORICAL SITE AND TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ON THE ROLE OF THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD

Welcome to Eleutherian College - Eleutherian College Welcome to Eleutherian College Sitting atop what local residents refer to as College Hill Eleutherian College stands as a beacon to education and the freedom it provided especially to free or selfemancipated Blacks in the decade leading up to the Civil War. The threestory building constructed in 1854 with locally quarried roughcut limestone includes a firstfloor chapel with six twostory windows and classrooms on the second and third floors. Contact us to arrange for a private or group tour with our knowledgeable volunteer guides and step back into some amazing history.
