TRAIN SHED DEDICATION CHARLES A. DUNN, III, MD “CHOO-CHOO CHARLIE” JUNE 17,1937 - AUGUST 4, 2024 On Saturday, May 17th, the Gold Coast Railroad Museum along with the Dr. John T. Macdonald Foundation dedicated the train shed the memorialization of Charles A. Dunn, III, MD. Dr. Dunn, was an advocate for public transportation, particularly trains. His interest in train travel began when he moved to South Florida by rail. That interest deepened during a train trip to San Francisco in the 1960s. After returning from California, he became president of the Miami Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society and Florida Coalition of Rail Passengers. Dr. Dunn was so passionate about rail, that he was affectionately known as “Choo-Choo Charlie.” His efforts led to the opening of the Golden Glades Metro Rail Station and the re-opening of a historic Amtrak station in Palatka, Florida, where he received the Key to the City. May Dr. Dunn’s legacy of service, his vision and his love for railroads inspire all who visit the Gold Coast Railroad Museum in the future. **This memorialization was made possible through the generous contributions of the Dr. John T.
