Today, on National Dog Fighting Awareness Day, we are beyond proud to recognize Dr. Jen Bonovich for her unwavering dedication and the incredible impact she is making on animal welfare in our community. 🐾 Yesterday, SC Governor Henry McMaster, local leaders and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division hosted a press conference to address dog fighting in our community. According to SLED, more than 200 dogs have been rescued from dogfighting rings in the state so far this year, including a massive seizure this week. It’s only April. Dog fighting, one of the most brutal forms of animal abuse, continues in South Carolina. The issue has prompted state leaders to speak out, calling attention to the cruelty involved and the steps being taken to combat it. This is a powerful testament to the real impact of leadership and advocacy, as well as the growing commitment to combat animal cruelty in the state. We couldn’t be more grateful for their involvement and determination. Dr. Bonovich spoke eloquently not only about the brutality of dog fighting, but about the power of setting a good example for others and instilling positive values within our communities. Her words are a reminder of how powerful compassion, education, and kindness can be in shaping a brighter future and a greater world for all living beings. ✨ Dr. Bonovich’s work with local government is a perfect reflection of her passion for both education and action. Not only is she the treasured and beloved veterinarian at Columbia Animal Services, she also champions homeless pets and their families by leading the Columbia The Street Dog Coalition team, along with the many other efforts and groups she is involved in. Her tireless efforts inspire us all to stand up for those who cannot speak for themselves and to promote a culture of kindness and respect. 🌍💖 Let’s continue to follow her lead, and together, we can create a future where compassion is the foundation of our society. There is no room for dog fighting here. Thank you to SLED, Governor McMaster, the ASPCA, local leaders, Dr. B., & all of those who have played a crucial role in fighting to free these innocent souls. ✨ 📸 Photo: Dr. Bonovich ➡️ To watch the press conference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=qS3e0z-kJuc&pp=ygUlTWNtYXN0ZXIgZG9nZmlnaHRpbmcgcHJlc3MgY29uZmVybmNlIA%3D%3D ➡️ For more information: https://www.wltx.com/article/news/local/sleds-dog-fighting-unit-rescues-492-dogs-south-carolina/101-8da0be82-651b-4926-8190-4d722f4317aa (fb)
