On 6.26.2010, 9 year old Fajr Javid drowned by giving her life-vest to a younger child. FMF was founded to honor her sacrifice by preventing further drowning. FMF has the central objective to help ensure another young life is not lost due to drowning. Every year in USA drowning is a leading cause of death. In NY drowning is the #1 cause of deaths of children less than 5 years old and #2 cause of death in children between the ages of 5-14. 6 out of 9 minority children are killed by drowning. Approximately 760 children die each year because of drowning. FMF seeks to change these statistics. The organization is named in honor of Fajr Javid, a selfless nine year old girl from NYC. Fajr drowned on June 26th, 2010 after giving her life vest to a younger child saying, "You need this more than me ". Family of Fajr helped to establish this organization to help recognize her ultimate sacrifice.FMF strives to break racial,religious & financial barrier
