Safe Haven Medical Outreach supports children with disabilities living in outlying areas of Siem Reap, Cambodia.We support families to create safer home environments for their children by providing access to the therapeutic and medical resources that they need in order to reach their full potential.Most of the children we work with have not received any medical treatment prior to Safe Haven's intervention, or even presented at the local children's hospital in Siem Reap.The medical situation in Cambodia is dire, and many families find it difficult to access basic health care, let alone specialized care. A lack of understanding as well as a lack of access to information, support and resources are just some of the many barriers that we help families to overcome.Our dedicated team currently provides physical and occupational therapy, rehabilitation, nutritional support, health assessments and education, and ongoing monitoring and support for around forty children with severe disabilities, multiple diagnoses and complex medical issues in Siem Reap province.We also support families to access other health services, including dental care, speech therapy, medical equipment, hospital services and surgical intervention, and help them to navigate these services so they can better understand their children's health conditions and make informed decisions about health and medical care.
