The Mississippi Corridor Neighborhood Coalition (MCNC) is a volunteer, neighborhood-based association of 20 community groups in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was formed in 1993 to: 1) Address the cumulative effects of water, air and soil pollution in the upper Mississippi River corridor in Minneapolis 2) Mitigate more than a century of neglect of the upper Mississippi River in our community 3) Provide access to the river for neighborhood residents Issues of environmental justice, land use and neighborhood involvement in planning have been our major concerns. By restoring the Mississippi River ecosystem, we can refocus community life toward the river and create a sustainable and livable community.
