IC assists adults in the STL area with serious & persistent mental illnesses to live & work in the community independently & with dignity. Independence Center is a community-based rehabilitation program for adults with severe and persistent Independence Center is a nationally recognized and award-winning psychiatric rehabilitation facility that was founded by parents and concerned friends of people with mental illnesses. In addition to traditional psychiatric and case management services, the Center offers life changing opportunities and supports to establish friendships, to live independently and to secure meaningful work and a paycheck.
