👋 Meet Susan Searls, an incredible community catalyst at Davenport School of the Arts in Florida! As the leader of the school’s Riding for Focus program, Susan has transformed cycling into more than a cycling program, but into a powerful tool for connection, growth, and empowerment.   🚲On top of running the school’s R4F program, Susan organizes Family Bike Rides, packing up bikes from their school in Davenport and introducing folks to new areas to ride! Back in March, students and their families came together to enjoy the trails, accommodating all skill levels for a group ride. A highlight was stopping at Parkesdale Farms in Plant City to savor the end of Florida’s strawberry season! Before the school year comes to a close, they had their final family ride on May 10th where several new families joined returning families who were able to try some new trails. These rides, held 2–4 times a year, foster stronger bonds and promote the joy of cycling!  ⚡️In April, the Tampa Bay Lightning visited Davenport’s campus, introducing students to the exciting sport of ball hockey and learning about the Outride program! Their enthusiasm was contagious, and some Lightning staff members even took a few laps around the school trail during their lunch break.   🚜Building on this momentum, Susan led an awesome Trail Maintenance Day later that month. Thirteen students and twelve adults worked together to spread crushed shells over the 1.3-mile trail, effectively combating the persistent Florida sugar sand. Students embraced leadership roles, guiding their parents and fellow volunteers through the maintenance process and even leading a trail ride! The day’s efforts not only improved the trail but strengthened the community’s commitment to supporting the school’s Outride program!
