Join the Movement. Wear Denim. Raise Awareness. On April 30th, we acknowledge the global campaign for #DenimDay — a stand against sexual violence and the harmful myths that surround it. 👖 Why Denim?
The campaign began after a 1999 Italian Supreme Court ruling overturned a rape conviction because the victim was wearing tight jeans. The justices claimed that because the jeans were so tight, the victim must have helped remove them—implying consent. The next day, women in the Italian Parliament wore jeans in protest, and a movement was born. Since then, Denim Day has become a powerful annual tradition where people wear jeans to stand in solidarity with survivors and challenge victim-blaming attitudes. We are calling on all members and affiliates of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. to post a photo in your denim on April 30th to help amplify this important message. 📸 Post. Tag. Take a Stand.
