BALTIMORE YOUTH CYCLING INC

Baltimore Youth Cycling, Inc. is a regional movement to develop junior cyclists into cycling advocates and confident young athletes. We work with beginner through advanced cyclists ages 8-18, in a structured cyclocross practice setting. We teach them to ride safely and skillfully as athletes dedicated to their sport, their teammates, and their community. Using cyclocross as our classroom, BYC shapes new cyclists just discovering the joys of two wheels into accomplished racers ready for national-level competition. We strongly believe cycling can change lives, and have created programs to lower barriers of entry for young cyclists and their parents. Our Rookie Bikes are available for loan to first year athletes. Our Shop Partners support this program with maintenance clinics at practices. Our dedicated coaches and volunteers provide the experience and encouragement to support BYC racers in local and national-level competition. As a whole, the Baltimore cycling community participates in and benefits from the success of our program and the accomplishments of our kids! As an integral part of our program, BYC's young athletes are also involved in their larger cycling community. Opportunities such as trail maintenance days, experience advocating for bike issues, discovery rides to introduce the region's cycling infrastructure, and more, build awareness in our young athletes of the issues and opportunities impacting all those who ride on two wheels
