As you know, the 20 year Civil War in Sri Lanka took a terrible toll in the North and North Central region of Sri Lanka. We witnessed the devastation when we visited the area. Peace has returned but prosperity is hard to come by. After decades of suffering and exile, they have returned to bombed out homes, overgrown fields and dispersed livestock. Some have amputated limbs, many have lost siblings, parents and children, and have scant financial resources. Struck by the helplessness of an extremely resourceful people, we founded Vanni Aid
