Washington State Boys & Girls Clubs Association
The Washington State Boys & Girls Clubs Association is a nonprofit organization that serves as a part of the broader network of Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), focusing specifically on the needs of young people within Washington State. The organization is committed to providing safe and supportive environments where youth can develop character, engage in education, and build healthy lifestyles.
Mission and Vision
The mission of the Washington State Boys & Girls Clubs Association aligns with that of the national organization, aiming to enable all young people, especially those who need them most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Their vision is to provide a world-class Club experience that ensures every young person has access to opportunities for success, graduating from high school with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character and citizenship, and living a healthy lifestyle.
Programs and Services
The organization offers a variety of programs tailored to meet the unique needs of youth in Washington State. These programs typically include:
- Education and Career Development: Offering support for academic success, career guidance, and skills development to prepare youth for future opportunities.
- Character and Leadership Development: Encouraging youth to become active citizens through leadership training and community service activities.
- Health and Wellness: Focusing on promoting healthy lifestyles, providing education on nutrition, exercise, and managing stress.
- Arts and Creative Expression: Engaging youth in creative activities such as music, visual arts, and theater.

Impact and Reach
By serving as a hub for Boys & Girls Clubs across Washington State, the association supports thousands of young people annually, many of whom come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Their efforts are part of a larger movement to ensure that all youth have access to the resources and support needed to thrive.
History
While specific historical details about the Washington State Boys & Girls Clubs Association are not readily available, it likely followed the pattern established by the national BGCA organization. Founded in 1860, the first Boys Clubs were established to provide safe alternatives for at-risk youth, eventually evolving into the Boys & Girls Clubs of America by 1990. Local chapters like those in Washington State have since grown to become integral parts of their communities.
EIN and Structured Reporting
The association operates under the Employer Identification Number (EIN): 35-227-5325, which is used for federal tax reporting purposes and identifies the organization as a registered nonprofit entity.
Conclusion
The Washington State Boys & Girls Clubs Association plays a significant role in advancing the mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of America by providing essential services and opportunities to youth within Washington State. The organization's contributions help address critical social issues, including educational disparities and youth development, aligning with the broader goals of promoting healthy lifestyles and civic engagement among young people.
