The Sedgwick County Zoo is the No. 1 outdoor family tourist attraction in Kansas and is dedicated to The Sedgwick County Zoological Society is a not-for-profit, scientific, and educational organization chartered in 1963 to foster public interest and support in and for the Sedgwick County Zoo. Its purposes are primarily conservation, recreation, education, and research. The Zoological Society manages the Sedgwick County Zoo under a written contract with the Sedgwick County Board of Commissioners. Our mission statement reads, "To inspire respect and conservation of wildlife and wild places."
