Two elephants, already paraded to exhaustion and one reportedly in musth, were forced into chaotic crowds and deafening fireworks. One elephant panicked and ran—terrified, bleeding, and confused—injuring over 60 people in the stampede. Behind the glitter of this festival lies an unbearable truth: elephants with open wounds and deep fatigue are paraded day and night, in searing heat and blaring noise. All in blatant violation of animal protection laws—enabled by negligence and silence from those meant to safeguard them. This is not tradition. This is torture in plain sight.
