Our “Job Talk Mentoring Workshop” aims to provide a platform for career development to our members. The ARISTEiA-Institute for the Advancement of Research & Education in Arts, Sciences & Technology is inviting applications for the Interdisiciplinary School for Environmental Crisis (ISEC), which is taking place on December 17-22, 2022 in Edipsos-Euboea, Greece. This is an international course that is co-organized by ARISTEiA and the Committee for Restoration of Northern Euboea. The aim of the ISEC is to foster interdisciplinary dialogue for addressing environmental crisis-related problems by merging top science experts and both undergraduate and graduate students of the following disciplines: 1. Environmental Sciences 2. Medicine & Life Sciences 3. Engineering 4. Economics and Business 5. Law 6. Social Sciences Northern Euboea was heavily hit by wildfires last year (more than 300,000 acres were burnt), as well as 15 years ago (~670,000 acres). The Government of Greece has assigned the Committee for Restoration of Northern Euboea with the responsibility to pursue all scientific studies and put together the plan for restoration of life and economy in the region. The Committee has adopted the educational program of the ARISTEiA Institute as one of the actions that will support the region. The course is offered tuition-free for 15 undergraduate and 15 graduate students from Greece and abroad, who will be selected based on criteria of academic excellence to participate. Hotel accommodation and bus transportation between the Athens International Airport and Edipsos-Euboea will be covered by the organizers. The course has two main components. The 1st component includes in-class lectures on various topics of basic and applied research. The 2nd component pertains to development of interdisciplinary culture and problem-solving skills, which will be exercised through student group projects that will focus on real local problems. Finally, career development sessions have been scheduled aiming to facilitate exploration of career options and appropriate preparation of the student participants.
