Mission and Focus
While specific details about the organization's mission are limited, it appears to advocate for consumers and homeowners by providing resources and advocacy related to HOA legal issues. This includes working within the framework of California HOA laws, which are governed by the Davis-Stirling Common Interest Development Act, among other statutes[2][4].
Nonprofit Classification
The organization is classified under the National Taxonomy of Exempt Entities (NTEE) as a Housing, Shelter organization, specifically categorized as "Housing Support Services -- Other." This indicates its role in supporting homeowners in navigating the legal aspects of their associations[1].
Financial Overview
Historical financial data indicates that the organization primarily relies on contributions for its revenue, with additional income from program services. In past years, contributions have constituted the majority of its total revenue, with minimal investment income[1].
Role in Consumer Advocacy
As a consumer advocacy group, it provides information and support to homeowners dealing with HOA issues, highlighting the importance of understanding and navigating complex legal frameworks affecting community living in California[4]. This role aligns with broader efforts to ensure fair governance and protection of homeowner rights within HOAs.
