During Fleet Week New York 2025, the #911Memorial & Museum proudly honored the unwavering commitment of our nation’s sea services as we welcomed members of the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, and U.S. Coast Guard to the site of remembrance and resilience. In a moving Reenlistments and Promotions Ceremony, service members gathered on the #911Memorial, where the Twin Towers once stood, and pledged to continue serving our country. Surrounded by the names of those lost on 9/11, their oaths were a powerful reminder of the enduring spirit of service. We also hosted the annual Freedom Run, where participants made their way through the streets of lower Manhattan in tribute to all who serve and protect. The run concluded on the Memorial Plaza, offering a moment of reflection and unity in a place that represents both profound loss and national resolve. Fleet Week reminds us that service is more than a duty. It is a promise to protect, to lead, and to stand for something greater than oneself. This May 30th marks the 23rd anniversary of the formal end of recovery operations at Ground Zero. To commemorate this milestone, we will honor the courage and sacrifice of 9/11 rescue, recovery, and relief workers, commemorate those who have died due to 9/11-related illnesses and injuries, and recognize the spirit of survivors and members of the downtown community with a special commemorative ceremony.
