Providing sanctuary, rehabilitation, and advocacy for wild birds living in captivity. Based in the Minneapolis/St. Paul (Twin Cities) areaof Minnesota, Midwest Avian Adoption & Rescue Services (MAARS) wasfounded in July 1999 to provide much-needed services for captive parrotsand other birds in the Midwest in cooperation with other organizationsaround the USA and world. MAARS' core function is to care for our flock at our facility, The Landing. Our primary mission is to educate the public, people who already live with parrots, and the veterinary community about the issues that face captive parrots. We believe without proper education the cycle of displaced parrots, abuse, and neglect will continue. Additionally, MAARS is a strong advocate for and partners with other organizations who work to protect parrots and their rightful homes in the wild. We are a no-kill, non-profit organization funded solely through donations.
