Animals will go to great lengths to try and escape a trap or snare. Being trapped is one of the worst things that can happen to a wild animal. They rarely are freed from the danger by their instinctive flight, fight, and freeze response. The harm they incur in the futile process is evident from the research. Who is trapped and by which body part is not a given. In order to further try and escape, some trapping victims will chew, tear, or twist off the trapped appendage. That was the case for this trapped fox who left behind his/her foreleg. Know the truths in trapping, spread the word, and educate others.
