NTR is an independent, state approved teacher education program that prepares diverse cohorts of exceptional educators to serve kids in Middle Tennessee. NTR’s mission is to develop and license teachers from diverse backgrounds and experiences who honor the dignity of every student. NTR’s mission is to develop diverse cohorts of thriving new teachers, prepared through strategic cycles of practice and feedback, who know their Middle Tennessee and school communities, and value their relationships with students, families, and colleagues, in order to improve outcomes for all students in Middle Tennessee.

NTR places Residents in the classrooms of highlyeffective mentor teachers who provide modeling mentoring and coaching as Residents learn to teach by sharing teaching responsibilities in their classroom. At night Residents take rigorous practical and handson classes in pedagogy content and community and culture.
