Through our Backpack Buddies program we combat childhood hunger for economically disadvantaged students from preschool to 8th grade by providing food for the weekends. While the schools provide weekday breakfasts and lunches to children who qualify for free or reduced lunches we extend that nutritional support beyond the school day by providing bags of food which are discreetly slipped into childrens backpacks for the weekend. The recipients are identified by the school counselors.
