There's a proposed bill that would roll back the regulations on single-use containers at state parks like Ichetucknee, Rainbow, and Weeki Wachee. SB 1822, backed by large retailers, would eliminate the ability to make any rules around disposable containers and is being heard in a senate committee on MONDAY MARCH 31st. Want to help us stop it? There's 3 things you can do: 1. Travel to Tallahassee on Monday and join Florida Springs Council, Surfrider, and Oceana to speak out against it. The hearing is at 4pm, and there will be folks from these groups there to meet you and guide you through the process. If you can drive to Tallahassee and stand up for the Ichetucknee in person, email brendawells@floridaspringscouncil.org to get more information. 2. Email the committee members. CALL Senator McClain the chair of the committee. Emails do matter, but calls make an even bigger impact! You'll likely get his voicemail, which makes it easy to state your name, your county, that you're calling to ask him to vote no on 1822, and add a brief reason why.
