JOB TYPE: Part-Time DESCRIPTION: Preschool Teacher Submit Resumes: carment@ivymca.org Apply Online: https://ivymca.org/employment-opportunities/#Apply The YMCA is seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and energetic Preschool Teacher to lead a classroom of 3- and 4-year-old children in preschool program. The ideal candidate will create a safe, supportive, and enriching environment that promotes children’s growth in alignment with YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. This position is key to helping young children develop the social-emotional, physical, and academic skills they need to succeed in kindergarten and beyond. This position is part time, Monday through Friday, 20 hours per week with summers off. Key Responsibilities: • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and learning experiences that meet the individual and group needs of preschool-aged children. • Integrate the YMCA’s core values into daily activities and classroom culture. • Support children’s development through structured play, creative expression, storytelling, hands-on learning, and guided exploration. • Maintain a warm and inclusive classroom that promotes safety, curiosity, and positive behavior. • Observe and document children's progress, completing assessments and communicating regularly with families. • Maintain daily classroom routines and ensure the environment is clean, organized, and compliant with YMCA policies. • Supervise and engage children in indoor and outdoor activities. • Collaborate with assistant teacher, families, and program leadership to support each child's development. Qualifications: • Associate’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (required or actively pursuing) preferred. • Experience working with preschool-aged children. • Knowledge of early childhood development, positive behavior strategies, and classroom management. • Ability to pass required background checks. • CPR, First Aid, and Child Abuse Prevention certifications (or willingness to obtain upon hire). • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Commitment to the mission and values of the YMCA.
