The Modern Maturity Center was officially incorporated on March 4, 1969, as a response to the growing need for a senior gathering place in Dover. Initially, the center began operating in a rented church facility. Over the years, it expanded its operations by moving to larger facilities, including a house on South Bradford Street and eventually its current location on Forrest Avenue. The organization's growth was marked by strategic expansions and additions to its services, reflecting its commitment to meeting the evolving needs of the senior community.

Programs and Services

• Social and Recreational Activities: The center offers various social events, fitness classes, and recreational activities such as line dancing and assemblies to foster community engagement among seniors.

• Nutrition Services: Offers Meals on Wheels and other nutrition-related programs to support homebound seniors.
• Adult Day Services: Provides adult day care, including the Daybreak program, which offers structured activities and support for seniors during the day.
• Care Management and Support: Includes services like the Caregiver Resource Center to assist caregivers with needed resources and support.
• Early Memory Loss Program (Front Porch): A pioneering program in Delaware designed to support individuals dealing with early stages of Alzheimer's and other memory disorders.
• Paid Job Training and Volunteer Opportunities: Offers employment training for seniors through programs like SCSEP and volunteer opportunities via the RSVP/Americorps Seniors program.

Partnerships and Facilities

The Modern Maturity Center has partnered with various organizations, including the University of Delaware, to host the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute on its campus. It also houses the Hope Medical Clinic, which provides free medical care to those in need, along with Dynamic Physical Therapy and Generations Home Health services.
