Do you enjoy spending time in our preserve here at Reinstein Woods? Do you want to play an important role in keeping it beautiful? You should look no further than our Phragmites Strike Team! 🥾 Armed with a spade and ambition, Phragmites Strike Team members remove the invasive common reed, Phragmites Australis. Their hard work and dedication allow native species, such as cattails and swamp milkweed, to flourish. In turn, these plants provide food and habitat to our native species.🌱 This opportunity is unique because volunteers can work with the Strike Team or alone. The team volunteers every Wednesday morning from 9-11 AM, and on the last Tuesday of the month from 6-8 PM. The team is active from June through September. This means you can volunteer at your convenience, as little or as much as you would like! It’s the perfect opportunity for introverts and extroverts alike. Interested? Come to our training session on May 29th, from 6-8 PM. Call 716-683-5959 to register. Please bring a water bottle. Be sure to wear long pants and sturdy footwear you don’t mind getting muddy. We will provide shovels, gloves, bug spray, and sunscreen, but you are welcome to bring your own. (fb)
