The inaugural Portland Film Festival was held from August 27 to September 1, 2013, featuring 83 films and attracting significant community involvement with over 148 volunteers. The festival has since expanded its programming, screening more films and hosting a wider array of filmmaking events.

Recognition

The Portland Film Festival has been lauded as one of the "coolest film festivals in the world" by MovieMaker Magazine in 2014 and has consistently been named one of the "50 film festivals worth the entry fee" in subsequent years, including 2020.
