We provide support and leadership development for youth who have been marginalized on the basis of their sexual orientation or gender identity.🌈 We Are Family (WAF) cultivates provides life-affirming and life-saving programs for LGBTQ+ young people in South Carolina! We Are Family is South Carolina's oldest nonprofit that provides life-affirming and life-saving programs for LGBTQ+ young people that have a lasting and measurable impact, with a focus on those who are BIPOC and/or low-income. Founded in 1995, we cultivate affirming statewide programs and community initiatives for SC's young people up to the age of 24 focused on: (1) leadership development and social support; (2) health and wellness; and (3) movement building and advocacy. Simply put, We Are Family is where queer youth thrive!

We Are Family Upcoming WAF Programs News Events Events Calendar Conexiones Positivas Leadership Camp In September 2024 We Are Family hosted our Conexiones Positivas Leadership Camp a threeday camp focused on increasing the leadership development of queer and trans Hispanic and Latine youth in South Carolina. LGBTQ young people increased their leadership skills learned about intersectional social justice issues and movementbuilding received resources for affirming health and wellness while engaging in fun community building activities such as photography art and more. Grounded in Black queer feminism and intersecting social justice movement frameworks youth leaders will ultimately see themselves as change agents who are emboldened to advocate for institutional transformation. Ive never felt more understood than I do with We Are Family.
