If visiting the beach at night, avoid using any flashlights 🔦 cell phones 📱 or other portable light sources💡- they may seem small, but they can still make a big impact on turtles and other nocturnal animals. If you feel you need a flashlight to guide your way, make sure it's red light 🔴 Red light isn't invisible to turtles, but the longer wavelength of this color is considered less disruptive (so it's still best to use these only if absolutely needed). Red light flashlights are available in our gift shop.
