Humane Society of Ray County
Saving lives - one pet at a time. The Humane Society of Ray County (HSRC) Missouri is a non-profit (501(c)3), no-kill animal shelter that is currently housed in the former county jail. Every animal that is surrendered is checked and treated for medical conditions by a veterinarian (at a reduced cost – but an expense, nevertheless), and it is the job of our volunteers to keep the pets healthy and clean until adoption. The shelter is full and there is a waiting list. HSRC subsists on donations from the community, fund-raisers, and grants with one part-time employee, the governing board and volunteers. According to our records, the HSRC was established around 1994. Note that the HSRC is working towards a new facility as the current shelter is small and deteriorating.
