🎉 THANK YOU, St. Louis! 🎉 Because of your generosity, we raised nearly $12,000 during Give STL Day to support the care and rehabilitation of Missouri's native songbirds. Every gift helps us provide life-saving care for birds in need. To celebrate, we're sharing a special moment: a beautiful female cardinal, fully recovered thanks to your support, being reunited with her mate and returned to the wild this past weekend. ❤️ Your kindness makes stories like this possible. From all of us at Wild Bird Rehabilitation (and especially from this Cardinal couple) — thank you for giving birds a second chance! (fb)

A Tale of 5 Flickers and 2 Amazing WBR volunteers On May 31, 2024, five tiny Northern Flicker hatchlings fell from their nest when a tree was cut down on the rescuer’s property. While picking up the sticks, the homeowner found these birds on the ground. Despite attempts to renest, the fragile babies were left vulnerable and without a safe home. That’s when Diane D. got the call. A longtime WBR volunteer and rehabber, Diane rushed to help and brought the hatchlings into care. Over the weeks, she hand-fed and raised them with patience and love—even hosting a little “picnic” where the young flickers enjoyed their beloved watermelon. By July 17, the birds were strong, fully feathered, and ready for freedom. Fellow volunteer, Cindy N., transported them to her property in Washington, MO, where they took flight into the trees—wild once more. From crisis to release, this is what our work looks like for thousands of birds each year. There is still time to be a part of their story by making your donation today at https://www.givestlday.org/organization/WildBirdRehabilitation. (fb)
