The Federation welcomed two College of Agriculture at Auburn University students as summer interns May 20! Talladega County native Cohen Luker and Lee County native Jonathan Parten will help guide the organization’s grassroots efforts through policy development and legislative affairs. Luker will work alongside the Governmental & Agricultural Programs Department, while Parten will assist the External Affairs and Organization departments. Congratulations to Katie Collins, Alabama’s 2025-26 Teacher of the Year! 🥳 Mrs. Collins, a first-grade teacher at Bluff Park Elementary School, will now serve as the state’s official ambassador for public education over the next year. Today, in partnership with Alabama Farmers Federation, we were proud to present Mrs. Collins with a brand-new Chevy Traverse to use for the year as she travels across the state promoting education. 🚗 As this year’s winner, she will also represent Alabama for the National Teacher of the Year Award. She lists her proudest professional accomplishment as creating the Communities Family Literacy Program after she and two colleagues saw a need for parent and pre-school English language services among ESL families in the Hoover City School System. This grassroots program has now transformed into a fully funded literacy initiative, employing adult and pre-school instructors.
