“𝐎𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐲 𝐝𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭.” – 𝐍𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐚 𝐑𝐚𝐡𝐦𝐚𝐧 At 31, Neena nearly lost her life to a rare neurological autoimmune disease that left her paralyzed for almost two years. Art became her healing lifeline. Today, after a near full recovery, Neena is a certified yoga instructor, a published poet, and most importantly—a full-time caregiver to her husband, who is living with Alzheimer’s. Neena lives in an intergenerational home with her son, a recent University of Wisconsin–Madison graduate, who moved back to help care for the family. She carries a quiet fear shared by many caregivers: that 50–60% of caregiving patients will outlive their caregivers.
