Harlan County Friends of the Shelter is dedicated to providing care, adoption and rescue of homeless and abandoned animals in Harlan County. It is also the goal of Friends to assist in the education of the public on issues regarding the responsibility of pet ownership and the importance of animal population Control. Friends also is dedicated to the rehabilitation of animals and people that are currently residing in our prisons. We do this as a Pup and Prisoner program.

Volunteer Friends of the Shelter is happy to accept any volunteers. Please contact us to get more information about how you can volunteer with us and truly make a difference in the lives of the animals we care for. Mission and Purpose Friends of the Shelter Friends is a nonprofit volunteer organization that has as its mission to prevent cruelty to animals and to assist in the care adoption and rescue of homeless animals in Harlan County. We also strive to assist in the education of the public on issues regarding responsible pet ownership and the importance of spay and neuter programs.
